A big thank you to all who came and ate, donated and supported our Pancake Breakfast, it was a very nice success!

Can you taste the flapjacks? – Our pancake breakfast is almost here: Sunday, March 8 from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. This will be a fundraiser for the local ERA food pantry. This event is open to the public, so bring people. Remember your family; bring your neighbors; bring people that you don’t even like (as long as they like pancakes). +++++

March 15, 10:15 AM (Pageant rehearsal)

March 22, 10:15 AM (Pageant rehearsal)

March 29, 10:15 AM (Pageant rehearsal)

Saturday, April 4, 7:00 PM (Easter Vigil Pageant)

April 19, 10:15 AM (regular class)

May 3, 10:15 AM (followed by the Annual Meeting)

May 17, 10:15 AM (last class before summer)

There will be three “kid friendly” services in the summer, dates TBD.

James Gang: The next "James gang" gathering is for lunch on Tuesday, March 10 at 12:00 PM. We'll be at Jake’s Eatery, 49 Cambridge Lane, Newtown, PA 18940. This gathering is "Dutch," meaning that we all pay for our own meal. Join us for fun, fellowship, & good food! Contact Chris Parker to RSVP or ask any questions.

Bible Study will be meeting on Thursdays during Lent. We will have 11:00 AM prayer services, followed by the study in the library from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM. The dates are as follows: March 5, 12, 19, and 26.

Invitation/request for help from the altar guild – On Saturday, April 4th the altar guild will gather to polish brass and silver in preparation for Holy week and Easter. Sprucing up of the sanctuary can also happen if there are enough hands to help. We'll be at the church from 9:00 AM until noon. Hope you can join us, if only for part of the time. St. Mark’s Food pantry – The dates that we will voyage to St. Mark’s in Philadelphia are the following Saturdays: March 21, April 18, May 16, and June 6. We take a break in the summer then resume in the fall.

Recipe for March 21: “Dad’s chicken soup”

Ingredients:

● 6 cups canned low-salt chicken broth

● 3 onions, chopped

● 6 celery stalks, chopped

● 4 carrots, chopped

● 4 large garlic cloves, chopped

● 3 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme or 2 teaspoons dried, crumbled

● 2 cups diced cooked chicken

● Fresh parsley*

● 1 cups uncooked long-grain white rice*

Method:

1. Bring first 5 ingredients to boil in a heavy large pot or Dutch oven over high heat.

2. Mix in thyme.

3. Return soup to boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer soup uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes.

4. Add chicken and simmer until heated through, thinning with additional broth if desired.

5. Season with salt and pepper.

*Please provide packaged white rice and fresh parsley on the side.

Makes 12 servings.

The Rev. Dr. Geoff Pankhurst of Orange, Australia, says his wife, a teacher, was telling her primary school class about Saint Francis and how he had taken a vow of poverty. “Who can tell me what a vow is?” she asked. A student raised her hand and replied, “A, E, I, O, U, and sometimes Y.”
